Creators and those with anything of value are no longer interested in working for free

A while ago I came across a Twitter account with 233,000 followers dedicated to making fun of people looking for others to work for free.

In these days many are starting to call out free internship programs as nothing but a scam. Regardless if you agree or not, the fact is that for the first time so many people are against it shows you a change in attitude the the concept of “work for free”.

For a long time people were chasing users and possible viral fame and worked hard for little or no money. That is coming to an end so quick, that many of you reading this now probably noticed that more and more things you look for online is old dated information or links to things you must pay for. This trend will accelerate even faster in the next few years.

Did you notice that more and more YouTube creators are stuffing their videos with as many ads as possible? If you have a AdBlocker you might not notice it on desktop but you certainly will on mobile (unless you have a blocker there too). These creators are right, why should they spend time and not get paid for it?

Even some of the things you do find for “free” you end up discovering is just an upsell to something that costs a lot of money. I am sure you saw one of those “let me send you my free ebook on making it money, I made it big and this is my way of giving back” scams.

The new attitude of creators and in general those that have something of value is all great news for those that would like to make money off knowledge they accumulated or even things they know that would be a value to others.

Now is a good time to start writing down everything you know of value that you would like to sell. What if you don’t have knowledge but have a talent others would find worthy of paying for? That is great too. Contact us, let us know what you have in mind and you might be part of the next big program. Please remember, the world is a big place, sometimes you must get out of your bubble to realize how valuable your skillsets are.
